The Terra collection is inspired by the many and varied tones of earth, clay, and sand. The pieces in this collection play with the concept of scale – are they a micro-view of the particles of soil beneath our feet, or a long-distance look across rolling hills and dunes? I find these colours grounding and peaceful, as they connect me deeply to nature.
This piece has many layers and a great tonal depth, partly thanks to it being a re-work of a previous piece. By painting this new piece over the old, the previous composition was allowed to whisper through – echoing the notion of digging into the earth to expose the strata which represent what came before.
(note, this piece is part of a ‘group’ of 4. The 4 pieces are available separately, but also look good displayed as a set).
