An Open Window In Sicily

A summer trip to the wonderful Italian isle of Sicily was the driving force behind this body of work. These pieces seek to capture the feeling of basking in an ever-present wall of heat, against the backdrop of a multitude of stunning natural vistas.
This particular painting was inspired by an afternoon spent exploring an abandoned building on Isola Bella, a tiny island just off Taormina. I stood by an open window as the warm breeze enveloped me, watching the palms rustle outside and the blue waves lapping the shore below.
